Seven seconds is not a long time. It is long enough for an unsecured adult to reach the ceiling, and long enough for the ceiling to arrive back underneath them at full weight.
Modeling from the Anchor consortium places 94% of projected casualties in the restoration edge — the 180 milliseconds in which the field returns — not in the free-float itself. Nearly all of those outcomes are preventable by being low, indoors, and physically restrained when the window opens.
Treat 14:33:00 UTC the way you would treat a tornado siren with a published arrival time. You have the rarest thing in disaster response: an exact schedule.
WHAT ANCHOR IS
Since 2019, a network of eleven superconducting gravimeters has monitored the local value of g to a precision of one part in ten billion. In March 2024 every station in the network began recording the same slow, coherent decay — a signature with no tidal, seismic, or instrumental explanation. The decay is not noise. It is periodic, it is accelerating, and it converges on a single moment.
The consensus model describes a transient relaxation in the coupling between mass and spacetime curvature — brief, global, and self-correcting. In plain terms: for seven seconds, mass will stop telling spacetime how to bend, and spacetime will stop telling mass how to fall. Then it will resume, exactly as before, as though nothing had been interrupted.

PUBLIC PREPAREDNESS PROTOCOL
GO LOW, GO INSIDE
Interior room, ground floor, away from windows and skylights. Sit on the floor with your back against a wall. Do not stand. Do not be on a ladder, roof, staircase, or balcony.
ANCHOR YOURSELF
A seatbelt, cargo strap, or belt looped around a fixed structural element is sufficient. Seven seconds of free-float is enough to put an adult through a ceiling fan.
SECURE THE ROOM
Close cabinets. Latch refrigerators. Cap every open liquid. Remove knives, tools, and heavy décor from shelves. Un-hang anything above head height.
NO VEHICLES, NO AIRCRAFT
Ground stop is in effect 14:00–15:00 UTC. If you are driving, pull over and stop by T−00:15:00. Tires will lose road contact and steering input will do nothing.
OXYGEN AND WATER
Do not eat, drink, or bathe within the ten minutes before the window. Aspiration of free-floating liquid is the second most-modeled injury category.
AFTER THE WINDOW
Stay down for four full minutes. Expect gas leaks, water on floors, and broken glass. Check on neighbors only after your regional all-clear.

PUBLIC INQUIRIES
01Is this the whole planet, or just my region?
The whole planet, simultaneously. Anchor is not a wave that travels — the binding term itself relaxes everywhere at once. There is no safer hemisphere and no point in relocating.
02Will the atmosphere leave?
No. Seven seconds is far shorter than the time required for any meaningful fraction of the atmospheric column to reach escape velocity. Expect a pressure transient and unusual weather for 36–48 hours. Expect to keep breathing.
03Will the oceans leave? Will the Moon?
No. Orbital bodies retain their momentum and resume their paths with an accumulated error smaller than existing measurement noise. Coastal readers should still expect a 0.3–1.1 m surge on the restoration edge. Tide-adjacent counties are under separate advisory.
04How do you know the duration is exactly seven seconds?
We do not know it exactly. Eleven independent gravimeter arrays converge on 7.0 s with a 0.4 s uncertainty. Plan for nine. The protocol is written to be safe at eleven.
05Why was this only announced now?
The precursor signature was below the confidence threshold for public advisory until 21 July 2026. It was elevated to Level 3 on 2 August. The full declassified data package is scheduled for release after the window.
06Can Anchor be stopped?
No. Project Anchor is an observation and preparedness program. The name refers to the network of gravimetric anchor stations, not to any capability to hold the field in place.
